Went here pre-pandemic and it was amazing. Came back and the food was very subpar and some was slightly frozen. Mixed drinks were no longer fancy and pretty much well drinks. Really hoping that one day it goes back to the previous quality because it is not worth the price now.
Absolutely amazing. My favorite sushi/bento place in Eugene so far!
We won’t be going back if they won’t fix their mistakes. Absolutely awful service. I don’t usually review places but we were burned by two separate ones within an hour of each other... :( TL;DR at bottom My husband was excited to try this place for the first time and I went even though I’m not a fan of seafood. It was supposed to be a fun night for us and I was excited to see they had other options I could eat as well. I ordered a teriyaki chicken bento box as I’m 8 months pregnant and can’t currently eat the seafood my husband was ordering even if I wanted to, and the guy asked us what 3 sides we wanted with it. He told me to choose things off the small plates menu so I did. We paid and sat down and the appetizers came out, then my husband’s bowl. Everything tasted great and I shared all my appetizers with my husband assuming I wasn’t going to be able to eat it all because I still had teriyaki chicken coming (or so I thought, I’m pregnant and my stomach doesn’t hold much right now). After seeing my husband was done with all of his food I started to wonder about mine. I told my husband I’m still waiting on one more thing and we decided it’s ok, we’ll order a couple more appetizers while we wait for it because it was good. My husband started to place the new order, then asked about the rest of my food to which the guy up front replied “I already gave you everything you ordered and you ate it”. I turned around and said I’m still waiting on my teriyaki, to which he replied I didn’t order it. I told him yes we did because he even told me to choose the 3 sides. He told me it doesn’t come with those, it comes with other things and even admitted that maybe he got the order wrong. No attempt to even fix what he did wrong, and wanted to still charge us for a chicken teriyaki even though I just want what I ordered and thought we paid for after DISCUSSING it with him. It turns out the sides that actually come with it are things I can’t eat anyway so we just cancelled our new order and left... TL;DR: A hungry pregnant lady ordered a bento box, cashier up front didn’t ring up the box correctly, told her to choose from a list, rang them up as separate appetizers, overcharged, claimed we were lying about not receiving food, then ADMITTED he was wrong, and wouldn’t fix it. Pregnant lady has to find another place or go hungry.

Incredibly chill spot, hiding right off the University of Oregon’s campus. The service sometimes takes a bit but it’s always worth it. The Karaage Chicken is straight fire and their ramen bowl is huge. Portions are generous and their drinks are fantastic: my go-to is the lychee gimlet. Izakaya Jinsei is owned by the same people who own Sushi Pure, and the building where Sushi Pure is currently located used to house Jinsei, but at that time it was called Izakaya Oyazi, and I used to DJ there occasionally for Valentine’s Day, etc. The owners are cool people and the food is great.
