Not sure what everyone else was smoking but this was really underwhelming. Pulled pork fries— pork was pretty flavorless and kinda stringy. My college roommate made better pulled pork after a night of drinking. Fries were alright though. Hot chicken sandwich— dry as saddle leather. I’ve given my friend’s dog treats that were more tender than this chicken. Spice was good but dominated the flavor. Doubt the head chef has tasted real Nashville hot fried chicken. Pork belly tacos— sauce overwhelmed the pork belly flavor. Pork belly was cooked a bit tough. Beer selection is really good and service is great though. Maybe stick with the burgers.
This place is a massive favorite for our family. We are always excited to stop by here when we are in town. The food is on point. I’ve never been disappointed by anything I’ve ordered there. I wish I could purchase bottles of their catchup. Typically when I travel I try to find unique local restaurants that display the culture of the area. If that’s your gig you won’t be disappointed at Plank Town.
I would give them 10 stars if I could! Fantastic food- I had a pulled pork sandwich that had green apples and Swiss cheese with a beer cheese dipping sauce. It was so good and I loved that it wasn't the usual pork, BBQ sauce and slaw. My husband had a burger and he loved it. The staff was so nice and helpful. Also they followed all the covid protocols which made me very happy.
Delicious beers and better than average pub food! Most of the beers are more interesting, like special blends, special barrel aging, etc. There are a few "standard" styles as well if you just need a solid go-to beer. When I think of pub food (fries, nachos, burgers, simple soup/salad, etc), I expect a certain quality and flavor - and this was above and beyond. The ingredients were fresher, the flavors were better and it was still super comfort food!
I like the beer and the family-friendly atmosphere. Restaurant is very loud and food and service are poor. I've tried many entrees and all but the Irish cheddar bacon burger are bad. Chef should stick to tried and true rather than testing their creativity on customers. Everything seems to be served on polenta with tons of arugula. Yuck. Other partner restaurants are much better food including Axe and Fiddle. Time for new chef? I'm clearly not alone in my opinion.
